My daughter inspired me on this one. She always ties up her hair like this. I hope the viewer can sense a day of a relaxing Summer afternoon in the BVI's. I always choose oil painting on canvas, for being a traditional artist who enjoys to paint beautiful contemporary scenes.

Caro is one of my favorite muses. For she is stunning from every angle. It is the second time I work on her portrait, this time a lot bigger. This piece took me exactly 27 hours to craft.

La tía Ana or Aunt Ana, a dear friend's relative, is this orange haired petite and enthusiastic Italian old lady who has lived a wonderful life but has always been scared of deep waters, swimming and boats. During a short visit to her family in Verona she told me about this delightful dream were she was young, floating, swimming, and doing the back stroke in a deep sea. Not scared at all! This, is how I imagined it.

This picture was taken as a friend's daughter played with her cousins in their pool. I just rearranged the composition when it reminded me of Matisse.

I always take photographs of my subjects. Living in the Caribbean, there are always great volunteers in my neighborhood. I do live were you vacation.

Meet Pizzón, my hairdresser, he has gotten more tattoos since this. He is a very outspoken person and when we meet for a beach day, he definitely owns the scene. Every Halloween, he goes for the win!

Minely is Pizzón's (The King of the Beach) assistant. You will not see one without the other. I have never seen a team so compatible so when I went to work on a portrait on him, I had to do hers as well. It was like working in pairs. Everything, they do everything together! So I had no choice.

Inspired by the beautiful sculpture of Bernini, Persephone's Abduction, I translated it into a contemporary scene. Persephone's at the beach.

Pamela is one of the three girls in my painting Dancing Days. There is so much to explore when painting water. It is just fascinating how it can decompose a perfectly painted body and add that magical touch of reflections and sparkles through splashes and drops. The movement of the body is already explicit. Adding the Play logo was the fun part! As if you wanted to see more, you'll be moved to press the painted logo when accessing the image through a screen.

I was leaving the pool, at the W Hotel in Vieques, Puerto Rico. Always attracted by that perfect mix of figurative art and abstraction, human figure and water make the prefect combo.

Zoe is Bobby Cruz's little sunshine. Bobby and I went to the School of Fine Arts together. He is one of the talented local artists I admire the most. Here, again, I work with the combination of construction, to deconstruct when mixing figurative and abstraction.

A distorted perspective. It do not recede deep into an illusionistic distance but stop short, like the scenic flats used to define space, conveying a sense of superficiality, or confusion.
